Professional/Career

  • Mechanical Engineer at Dow Chemical in Midland, MI from May 1985 to March 1986
  • Project Engineer at John Brown Engineering in Mt Vernon, IN from March 1986 to June of 1988
  • Became licensed as a Professional Engineer in 1990
  • Member of Indiana Farm Bureau, National Society of Professional Engineers, Jasper Chamber of Commerce, National Federation of Independent Businessman, and Dubois County Builders Association
  • Messmer and his two brothers are now co-owners of Messmer Mechanical, Inc. in Jasper.
  • Elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in November 2008

Family

  • Mark has been married to Kim for 24 years and they have four children, Eric 21, Laura 19, Madeline 15 and Luke 13.
  • Mark has been very involved in the activities of his children through coaching their sports teams for over 12 years, as a Cub Scout leader for over 20 years, and helping the Band Parents as a member of the "Pit Crew" for 3 years, and helping with concession sales at football games and at the Strassenfest stand for 8 years.
