Messmer Announces Candidacy

Jasper resident Mark Messmer has announced his candidacy for State Representative in House District 63. He is running for the seat held by Dave Crooks, who will be retiring after this term. Speaking outside his business, Messmer Mechanical, Messmer said now is the time for change. "This campaign is not about me or my future. This is a campaign about real ideas," Messmer said. "These ideas of personal responsibility and valuing our tax dollars are the common sense notions the long time politicians in Indianapolis have forgotten, and I know we can do better."

Messmer, a 1981 graduate of Jasper High School, has worked nearly two decades in mechanical engineering with clients of family owned businesses. Messmer now is the co-owner of Messmer Mechanical.

Messmer outlined several issues that will take priority during his campaign, including education reform, protecting property taxpayers and creating jobs.

"We need to improve our ability to attract new businesses into our state, district and local communities that will provide good economic opportunities for more people," Messmer said. "Jobs are the life blood of our society. Freedom, liberty, and the entrepreneurial spirit of the people in this country are what have made this country great. There is a fine line between success and failure in any business. As government leaders we need to do what ever we can to remove the barriers that slow down jobs growth."

In addition, Messmer has also been endorsed by all four Republican County Party Chairman in HD 63.

Messmer has been married to his wife Kim for 22 years and have four children, Eric 20, Laura 17, Madeline 13 and Luke 11.

"We deserve more from our elected representative than someone who says one thing at home and does the opposite when they get to Indianapolis," Messmer said in closing. "We need someone who keeps his commitments and is more interested in representing the people in our district than keeping party leaders happy. In short we deserve better. I need your vote to put political games in the past a make a better future for our district a reality."
