Fair Season!
My family has been active in the local 4-H fairs for nine years. My oldest daughter Laura has had 8-9 years of horse entries, finally winning the Grand Champion in Contest Riding in 2007. With Laura, Maddie and Luke there is always the last minute scramble to get frames finished, posters done, and baked goods to try and retry until we get them just right. Let’s not forget the fun rides and games that all children enjoy. Of course there is the elephant ears, funnel cakes and lemon shake-ups that are a must.
As a candidate for State Representative, I also enjoy the opportunity to meet so many people at the county fair. It serves as a great opportunity to listen to voters, and get an idea of what your concerns are and how you feel about the important challenges facing Indiana.
Just this week I had the privilege of talking to a member of the Sheriff’s department at the Daviess Co. Fair. We talked at great length about how we can make their battle with drug abuse and trafficking easier if we make a few changes in legislation. Listening to his concerns and his dedicated service to his community was a great reminder to me about the courage of Hoosiers and why I want to represent your interests in the Statehouse.
If you see me at one of the county fairs this summer, please come and talk to me. I’d love to hear from you and talk about how we can work together to make Indiana a great place for all.
