Local Economic Development Success

The Jasper City Council took advantage of some of the provisions included in HRA-1007 that I authored this year. The enhanced property tax abatements in their new ordinance will allow from 1-10 years of a 100% abatement for new investment in an either an existing company or a new business. The point system has a scale that is based on the size of the investment, the pay rate of the jobs, the number of new jobs, the reuse of existing infrastructure, and a few other items. The higher the score, the longer the company is eligible for a full abatement of the additional taxation on their new investment.
