New stories from door-to-door visits

The past few Saturday's have generated some interesting stories while going door-to-door. I have always enjoyed going door-to-door and visiting with people around the district. Well, this Saturday my wife Kim got the chance to go along with me for the day. Now she knows why I like it so much! It is amazing how nice the people are that we have met, and how glad they are to have someone ask them what they think. It's also surprising how many say that no one has ever been to see them! How do you do this job and not ask people what they think?

Volunteering for Community Service

The St John Bosco Youth Ministry Group in Jasper had another successful year with their 6th annual Fish Fry on Friday, April 4th. We served more than a thousand meals to community members, which as a new record for out group. We thank the Schnitzelbank for, once again, donating the use of its catering trailer and for all the help from several of their employees who generously donated their time. It is moments like these that I am glad I can take time away from my campaign schedule to continue my community service, something that I have always had a passion for.

April is here & we're back in full gear!

After a busy Easter Week and a week in Florida on spring break with the family, we hit the ground running this week.

Even though we were in Florida last week, we were still able to run into people from southern Indiana. While we were in Old Towne in Kissimmee on Wednesday, Kim & I met a really neat couple from Washington, IN (Shane & Cindy Hicks)while we were waiting for our video from the Sky-Coaster. They gave us a great tip on a beach area and dolphin watching boat trip that we went to on Friday.

My most rewarding stops today were at homes of people that traditionally consider themselves Democrats.

The traditional Democrats in southern Indiana are very conservative people. When I talk about Prolife issues, family values issues, property tax reform, making government more responsible for their spending, education reform ideas that I have, and illegal immigration issues, a typical local Democrat says they really like what they hear.
